Find My Friends, which just got a big 3.0 revamp today, has had a feature for a while that lets you assign pre-made and custom labels to your friends’ current locations. Instead of seeing a generic city, they can be listed as at “home”, “school”, “work”, or anything else you like.

In my example above, I labeled my wife’s location as “work” and Zach’s location as “home.”

To assign a label to someone’s current location:

  • tap the More option at the top of the map view
  • tap the “Currently Near” label above their address
  • pick a pre-made label or create your own
